I formally trained as a goldsmith and love to use my craft as a means of expression. I am fascinated by the connection between the pieces I create and their physical relationship to the owner. My work is inspired from observations made in the ‘everyday’ where architecture, nature, literature and sound combine and my subjective experience can then be expressed in the form of jewellery.
With my background being based around precious metals, my pieces often take clean cut and simple forms, however, by incorporating new materials and combining these with traditional methods I am enabled to push the boundaries of what jewellery making can be.
Making each piece is personal and involves the process of changing a material. This requires harmony, balance and patience. In my opinion the best Jewellery must work in harmony with the wearer, this is why I place great importance of an understanding of the person I am making the piece for. I work to combine personality with craft to reach a deeply personalised outcome in each instance.
